I only read about 30 pages of the book and fell on my knees and repented for ALL of my sins and I have been a Christian for 30 years and I am a regular attendee at a church that takes God's Word very, very seriously in the Puritan spiritual tradition. Matt's words were a God-send to me and an answer to long prayer about why American Christianity is so complacent and cowardly. I can assure anyone reading this review that whatever complacency that may have existed in my heart - it is now gone. I have wondered for some time now if the American church was in apostasy and had concluded that it is. I rarely hear the Gospel preached even in my own church with a loving and learned young pastor who "expositorily preaches around the Gospel" because he is too frightened to preach the real Gospel. He is a coward essentially but a very NICE man. The sermons are tepid and basically irrelevant. He fiddles as Rome burns. I may purchase hard copies of this book for him and for the lead elder and deliver them anonymously because if I gave them as gifts I would then be known as one of a few true Christians in the congregation and be considered a threat.
